Emergency services are set to stage a major training exercise at Glasgow International Airport this evening.
Crews from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service will work alongside the airport’s own fire crews as part of a planned exercise designed to rehearse how teams would respond to a major incident.
The training, which is scheduled to take place between 7.30pm and 11.30pm, will see emergency teams take part in a simulated incident within the airport environment.
As part of the exercise, activity will be focused in sections of the airport car park, where temporary cordons will be put in place while crews carry out their work.
The scenario has been designed to test emergency response procedures, communication systems, and multi-agency coordination, ensuring crews remain fully prepared to respond quickly and effectively in the event of a real emergency.
Members of the public may notice a number of emergency service activities taking place during the evening, including fire appliances operating with blue lights, firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, hoses being deployed, and the use of a short element of synthetic smoke.
Officials have confirmed the exercise is pre-planned and controlled, and there is no cause for concern should residents or motorists notice increased emergency service presence in the area.
