A popular Paisley café has announced its immediate closure, citing mounting financial pressures facing small independent businesses.
Caffè Royale, located at 71 Glasgow Road, confirmed the news in a heartfelt message to customers, saying it had been left with no choice but to close its doors.
Owners Colin and Claire said the decision had not been taken lightly and described it as one made “with a heavy heart”.
In a statement, they said: “The increasing financial pressures facing small independent businesses have forced us to close with immediate effect.
“We have given it everything we possibly could; however, it is no longer enough. Our health and wellbeing can no longer be sustained under these pressures.”
The couple thanked the loyal customers who had supported the café over the past seven years, saying many had become close friends during that time.
They added: “We are devastated to be leaving such a wonderful community and customers whom we now consider friends after the last seven years.
“Your support will never be forgotten, as we could never have done this without you.”
The owners also paid tribute to the café’s staff, both past and present, for their dedication and commitment.
They said: “Your hard work, loyalty, friendship, and dedication have been at the heart of Caffè Royale, and we are deeply grateful for everything you have contributed over the years. It has been a privilege to work alongside you.”
Concluding their message, Colin and Claire said they would always treasure the memories made during their time running the business.
“We are grateful for everything and will cherish the memories we have made.”
The closure marks the end of seven years for the Glasgow Road café, which had become a popular meeting place for local residents and regular customers.
