Renfrewshire drivers, take note—strict new pavement parking enforcement is set to begin from Tuesday, 1 April, as council officers confirm plans to tackle irresponsible parking across the area.
A two-week public awareness campaign will launch on Monday, 17 March, during which parking attendants will issue awareness notices to vehicles found parked in violation of the new rules. These notices serve as a final warning before fines are introduced, ensuring motorists are fully informed about the change.
From Tuesday, 1 April, parking attendants will begin issuing fines of £100 for non-compliance, which can be reduced to £50 if paid within 14 days. The enforcement effort will primarily focus on known hot spots, key arterial routes, and areas identified through public reports of dangerous or obstructive parking.
The ban aims to improve accessibility for pedestrians, particularly those with mobility impairments, prams, or wheelchairs, and to enhance road safety by ensuring clear pavements and sightlines.
If you’re a driver in Renfrewshire, be sure to check your parking habits and help keep pavements safe and accessible for all!
Maybe the council should prioritise cleaning the area, fixing pot holes and emptying the bins instead of trying to fleece drivers!
